£5,000 match funding for arts and culture in Newcastle

Crowdfunder, Newcastle City Council and the Community Foundation for Tyne & Wear and Northumberland have come together to support arts and culture in city.

We recognise the impact of COVID-19 on the cultural sector of Newcastle and so we have updated our criteria for this fund. You can now apply for our match funding to create and deliver projects with and for the people of Newcastle OR to support the costs of recovery so you can prepare to deliver activity in the future.

So if you are you an arts organisation working with the residents of Newcastle on projects that have a positive impact on their health and wellbeing then extra funding is here to support you to reach your target and shout about your good work.

Newcastle City Council and the Community Foundation may pledge 50% of your crowdfunding project target, up to a £5,000 maximum pledge.

Extra funding for Newcastle-based not for profit arts organisations to deliver a project that impacts the health and wellbeing of Newcastle City residents.

You need a crowdfunding project to apply for funding. Start or continue adding your project and, if eligible, you'll be prompted to apply.

To be eligible for match funding, applicant projects will:

  • be led by a cultural organisation based in and delivering activity in the Newcastle City Council area.
  • be formally constituted, have their own bank account and operate on a not-for-profit basis.
  • meet the standard criteria required by the Community Foundation, see http://www.communityfoundation.org.uk/apply. Please note in particular that this means that you will need to be ready to provide your governance documents, a safeguarding policy and recent financial accounts.

Applicants must show that the project activity will address the Newcastle City Council ambition of health and wellbeing. By that, we mean supporting individuals to realise their own potential, to cope with the normal stresses of life, to work productively and fruitfully, and make a contribution to their community. See here for more information.

Applicants might also want to have a look at the other priority areas for the council which can be found here:
